| Kalahari and West Coast Desert Tour  The tour may commence at Port Elizabeth, Cape Town or Upington. Wild flowers of the West Coast are at its best in September. Exceptional long distances are to be driven on this tour. Guests are advised to spend rest days on route. The best season for this tour is March to November. Day 1 - Cape Town to Ceres We depart Cape Town heading northwards towards the majestic Cedarberge. A scenic drive via Wellington will bring us to the fertile valley of Ceres. Overnight in a guesthouse at Ceres. Day 2 - Ceres to Lamberts Bay After breakfast we cross the Cedarberge and head for the West Coast resort of Lamberts Bay. On route we will visit a tea factory before arriving at the South Atlantic. In the sunset experience a bird colony and enjoy the atmosphere of this fishing paradise. Overnight at a flat near the beach. Day 3 - Lamberts Bay to Springbok In the morning we will depart for the Sandveld and Namaqualand. Depending on the season and prevailing weather conditions we can enjoy the spectacular flowers of the desert. Overnight at a Springbok guesthouse. Day 4 - Springbok to Augrabies Waterfalls After departing Springbok it is true desert until the great life line of the Kalahari and the Augrabies Waterfalls. We stay overnight in a chalet of the National Park. Day 5 - Augrabies Waterfalls Today we explore the Augrabies National Park. We find here one of the oldest rock formations on earth. Overnight at the Augrabies National Park. Day 6 - Augrabies Waterfalls to Upington Along the river pirate route we will head for Upington and remain there after some wine tasting. Overnight in Upington. Day 7 - Upington to Kalahari Gemsbok National Park In the morning we will head north through the Kalahari desert and to the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park. Enroute we are likely to meet some San people. A night safari will be conducted in vehicles of the park. Overnight at the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park. Day 8 - Kalahari Gemsbok National Park Safari day in the Gemsbok National Park. Apart of antelopes we find here also many cheetah, lion and desert foxes. Overnight at the National Park. Day 9 - Kalahari Gemsbok National Park to Upington After a morning safari we will leave the Gemsbok Park and return to Upington for the night. Day 10 - Upington to Kimberley Depart for Kimberley and visit the 'Big Hole'. A massive crater made during the 19th century diamond fever. Overnight at a guesthouse in Kimberley.
